"'Dawn to Dusk' was inspired by both Robert Schumann's Album for the Young and Thomas Cole's series of paintings Voyage of Life (seen below). I remember seeing these paintings in the National Gallery in Washington, D. C. when I was in middle school and being very affected by them, no doubt due to my fondness for storytelling. I was similarly drawn to the sweetness and innosense of Schumann's collection."
